Mark of Discipleship Serve and Share
“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit gives them. There are different ways of serving, but the same Lord is served. There are different abilities to perform service but the same God gives ability to all for their particular service. The Spirit’s presence is shown in some way in each person for the good of all.” 1Corinthians12: 4-7
God has given each of us spiritual gifts. We are called to use these gifts to serve God. There are many ways you can use your spiritual gifts. Here at Zion, the lay assistants help worship run smoothly. Each Sunday, over 70 people serve in the capacity of
• ushers
• greeters
• reader
• assisting minister
• communion assistant
• nursery attendants
• acolytes
• power point
• sound technician
• hospitality
• musicians
• singers
Behind the scenes, lay ministers:
• serve on the altar guild
• fold bulletins and newsletter
• maintain the building and gardens
• count offering
Many also discover God has given them additional gifts as they think “outside the box” for ways to serve their Lord. Our service ministries are a part of the lay ministry program. You can also share in this ministry by using your talents in cooking and serving community dinners, sewing; quilts, mittens, and diapers, helping our neighbors in need by collecting food, school supplies, blood, hats, scarves, and monetary donations. These are just a few of the ways you can serve your Lord and neighbor.
